The game is set in 1941 when the Germans are crushing English troops. The action takes place near Tobruk. The battle was fought around the only open port between Alexandria and Sfax. The surrender allowed German forces to consolidate their own forces and hold territories until 1942. Only with the arrival of General Montgomery was Rommel driven out of Africa.
